Navigating Uncertainty: A Guide to Career Transitions

To kick off the inaugural newsletter, I wanted to share a personal story about my own career Runway and trajectory.

Almost 8 years ago, I juggled two very different jobs: by day, I was a member of the IT team at a major healthcare company, and by night, I pursued my passion as a concert photographer and writer, interviewing music artists. The contrast couldn't have been more striking: during the day, I was immersed in the corporate world, while at night, I was backstage at concerts, rubbing shoulders with modern-day music icons. As a kid who adorned her bedroom walls with posters of guitars and idolized the bands in her mail-order CD club, it felt like I was living in a dream.

But it was during a routine medical conference, funded by the IT team, that my life took an unexpected turn. As the last speaker of the event discussed how blockchain technology could revolutionize healthcare, I found myself captivated, despite the dwindling audience. I seized the opportunity to connect with the speaker afterward, eager to learn more. Waiting for my flight, I devoured white papers on blockchain technology, realizing its potential far beyond Bitcoin.

Inspired by what I had learned, I penned an article on healthcare and blockchain in the Notes app on my iPhone during the flight. I decided to pitch the story to VICE News the next day, stepping out of my comfort zone for either job I worked entirely. To my surprise, they accepted it, and within a week, it was published.

That article marked a turning point in my career; it put me on a new Runway. Within eight months, I had bid farewell to both my jobs and fully immersed myself in the world of web3. It was a leap of faith, fueled by the thrill of change and the belief in the transformative power of new technologies.

Now, as I reflect on my journey, I'm reminded of the importance of embracing uncertainty and seizing opportunities for growth.
